Pro-Pakistan Hurriyat leader Syed Ali Shah Geelani Sunday announced the formation of pan-Kashmir women wing of his party, Tehreek-e-Hurriyat.
The formation of women wing of Hurriyat, which will be headed by Mr Geelani, was formally announced at the party headquarters in Srinagar.
A spokesperson of the party said the decision to form the women wing was driven by their specified role for Islam, unification and freedom movement.
“Women have an active role to play in the ongoing freedom movement. The organisation stands for overall reformation in society and we want to provide our services in every aspect of life,” Geelani told a gathering at his office.
