The National Council of Lebanese Women called Thursday for an active participation of women in the upcoming Lebanese cabinet. “The NCLW sent open letters to President Michel Sleiman, Parliament Speaker Nabih Berri and Prime Minister-designate Najib Mikati in which they asked them to name women in the ministries' ranks within the new cabinet, especially after the prime minister-designate has decided to have a cabinet filled with technocrats,” said the statement released by the NCLW. The NCLW also reminded the leaders of the agreements and commitments put in place by the Lebanese state regarding the implementation of the pact to abolish all types of discrimination against women.
