“Mining and Violence in Guatemala: Indigenous Women Resist” will be the subject of a speech and video presentation with Victoria Cumes Jochola, of the Guatemalan women's organization Tz'ununija. She will discuss the work of indigenous Maya women who resist the impacts of the mining industry, which include contaminated rivers, leaky tailings ponds, and serious threats to public health.
