USA: Secretary Clinton to Deliver two Major Speeches on Women, Peace and Security

Secretary Clinton will deliver two major speeches in the coming days on Women, Peace and Security.

At 7:30pm on December 16, at the International Crisis Group's annual In Pursuit of Peace Award Dinner, the Secretary will lay out the case for the critical role women play in making peace and achieving lasting security.

At 2:30pm on December 19, at Georgetown University, the Secretary will discuss new efforts across the U.S. Government to support women's participation in peace and security, including plans to better protect women from conflict-related violence and promote women's leadership and perspectives in all aspects of conflict prevention, resolution, relief, and recovery.

Both events will be open to credentialed members of the media. Details for each event follow below.

International Crisis Group's annual In Pursuit of Peace Award Dinner

On December 16 at Pier Sixty at Chelsea Pier in New York City, in recognition of their lifelong dedication to building peaceful, just and open societies in some of the world's most conflict-affected regions, the International Crisis Group will award Sihem Bensedrine, Shukri Ismail, Claudia Paz y Paz Bailey and Sima Samar the Stephen J. Solarz Award for Commitment to Peace, Justice and Security.
Wolf Blitzer, anchor of CNN's “The Situation Room,” will serve as Master of Ceremonies, and Grammy-award winning musician Sarah McLachlan will provide entertainment for the event.
