In recent weeks, across the Middle East women have been on the frontlines of protests, demanding democracy and accountability from their governments. Like their regional counterparts, Palestinian women have long been leaders in their society. However, like women in Egypt, Tunisia, and beyond, Palestinian women are seldom represented at the highest levels of foreign policy decision-making. They are rarely members of high level negotiating teams, are not recognized for their contributions, and have seldom served in the top political offices in Palestine. Members of The Institute for Inclusive Security's Palestinian women's coalition will discuss prospects for Israeli-Palestinian negotiations and the difference women can make in achieving an equitable and lasting peace.
