Some 200 European and Mediterranean women will jump on their bikes this November and cycle for peace from Lebanon to Jordan to draw attention to the plight of women and children in the region - particularly the West Bank And Gaza. The group, aged 18 and above, will pedal for one week, beginning Nov. 28, from Baalbak, Lebanon, to Damascus and then finally Amman under the banner: "Follow the Women - Women for Peace." The project took off a year ago with steering committees in Spain, Turkey, Sweden, Cyprus, the UK and Jordan organizing the unique event. Upon the ride's completion, a three-day conference will take place where an estimated 300 participants will discuss issues openly with fellow cycling companions and make plans for the future.
