BDP Women's Council Conference Ends. The final resolution of the conference, which was organized by the BDP Women's Council between October 28 and 29 in Batman, has been announced. The BDP Women's Council Conference was held at Batman Municipality Conference Hall. The co-chairperson of the BDP Gultan Kisanak, MPs, Central Executive Committee and Party Council members, women mayors and DEP former MP Leyla Zana, the former co-chairperson of DTK Yuksel Genc and around 300 delegates attended the conference.

The conference, which was started with the election of the council members to chair it, continued with the Co-chairperson Gultan Kisanak's opening speech. Kisanak commented on the constitutional amendments that the state is trying to make behind closed doors and on the Kurdish issue. She stated that the government should give up its constitutional reforms in secrecy and open them to public debate. “The Kurdish question should be solved. People who are against the Democratic Autonomy are also standing against the solution of the Kurdish question. Escaping from dialogue and negotiation, they are trying to marginalize the Kurds,'' she said.

Women agreed on 'social contract'

BDP Women's Council announced the final resolution of the conference held in Batman.

The AKP's aim to liquidate the will of the Kurds was pointed out in the political assessment of the final resolution. It was said that the government should carry on its negotiations with Ocalan if they are sincere to solve the Kurdish question. It was also added that to play his role to contribute to a peace process, Ocalan should be released and be free; and KCK's ceasefire declaration should be taken into consideration by the government as a historic opportunity.

The AKP's policies towards the Kurdish women were also criticized in the final resolution.

Regarding the education in mother tongue, they said: “We send our greetings to our Kurdish women friends, who are on trial under KCK, and support their defence decision in Kurdish. We would like to say that we are decisive to speak Kurdish in all areas of life.''

The connection between women's freedom and being organized was pointed out in the final resolution. It was emphasized that the dissemination of women's political academies will meet the needs in this area.

To strongly develop “Lets raise the Struggle of Freedom, Abolish the Rape Culture'' campaign was expressed in the final resolution. To defend all the social values that are created by women and for its continuation, the women's social contract was also approved unanimously.

The 1st Conference, which was organized by BDP Women's Council, was dedicated to Durre Yaverkaya, who had been elected as the first municipal council member in Hilvan town of Urfa in 1979, known as mother Durre of the Kurds.
