REPORT: Peacebuilding in the Aftermath of Conflict

Author:
UN Secretary-General, Ban Ki-moon

This report was presented by UN Secretary-General, Ban Ki-moon, to the General Assembly and the Security Council pursuant to the Council's request for a report by October 2012 on further progress made in implementing my 2009 agenda, “giving particular emphasis on the impact this has made on the ground, including progress towards increasing the participation of women in peacebuilding” (see S/PRST/2010/20). The report also responds to the presidential statement adopted by the Security Council following its special debate held in January 2011 on institution-building in post-conflict peacebuilding (S/PRST/2011/2). In that document, the Council requested an assessment of the impact of my 2009 agenda “in contributing to building viable institutions in post-conflict countries, as well as additional recommendations to improve the effectiveness of the United Nations' contribution to more effective, stable and sustainable institutions that can help prevent a relapse into conflict”.
