The 56th CSW sees WILPF host three events, two of which will take place the 29th of February, namely “Achieving Human Security for Rural Women in Africa” and “Empowering Rural Women in eradicating poverty and hunger—how can we really help". A third event discussing “Food Security, Conflict, Peace and Rural Women” will be held on the 1st of March.

Amira Hass, an award-winning Israeli journalist, will speak at 6 p.m. Feb. 13. at the University of Florida's Pugh Hall, home of the Bob Graham Center for Public Service.

The program is being co-sponsored by the Bob Graham Center, the UF International Center, and The Isser and Rae Price Library of Judaica Endowment Fund, among others. The event is free and open to the public.

The Embassy of Finland together with the U.S. Institute of Peace cordially invite you to a panel discussion on Women, Peace, and Security in Afghanistan: Prospects on the Way Forward.

The event will be a panel discussion on 2 priority aspects of Human Security in rural African context: Prevention of Conflict, and women's security and participation. Invited speakers will present good practice and recommendations for the promotion of women's rights as prevention strategy from local and national context; as essential for the empowerment and security of rural women.

The Peace Portal is an initiative of the Global Partnership for the Prevention of Armed Conflict. The building of the Peace Portal has been supported by the City Council of The Hague, and the Netherlands Ministry of Economic Affairs.

Join No Women, No Peace. on 1 February 2012 in London for the UK premiere screening of Peace Unveiled, part of the Women, War and Peace documentary series, first aired on PBS in late 2011.

Peace Unveiled is an excellent documentary that follows Afghan women as they seek to be included in peace talks in late 2009 and early 2010. This will be the first UK public screening of the documentary. Watch the promo here.

The NNVAWI conference brings together an exemplary group of scholars and advocates engaged in anti-violence work around the globe. Prior to the official conference kick-off, NNVAWI's Pre-conference Symposium on Global Violence against Women will be held on March 4, 2012.
