“And the women of Syria should be involved in making this happen, as there can be no solution without them . UN Security Council resolution 1325 on women, peace and security provides an outstanding ta01 for promoting inclusive conflict resolution. This week at the General Assembly we have hosted a side-event marking the importance of women's political participation for successful transitions in the Middle East and North Africa.

“It is our strong resolve to promote full participation of women in national development, while protecting their political, social and cultural rights as agents of change.”

“Sexual violence in conflict has become a rampant phenomenon - with women and girls at particular risk of becoming victims. The ICC has made the fight against this scourge a priority. Most importantly though, we must do our part as States. Liechtenstein fully supports the United Kingdom's initiative to take greater action to end sexual violence in conflict.”

Second, as other like-minded countries have already done, Japan also intends to develop a national action plan regarding women, peace, and security, in cooperation with people working at the grass-roots level.

“Development must go hand in hand with inclusive policies that take into account full gender equality and the inclusion of women in every aspect of political, social and economic life.”

“Following up on the 'Ulaanbaatar Dialogue' initiative, we have successfully hosted a series of fruitful platforms - Women parliamentarians meeting, International research conference and City mayors meeting of Northeast Asian countries.”

The nature of African societies has imposed the establishment of positive discrimination in favor of women, allowing them access to elective offices and decision-making spheres in order to guarantee more gender justice”

“It was on the same occasion last year that I spoke of the significance and importance of enhancing the power of women and appealed for us. To create a society in which women shine. Japan has now begun to work towards resolving the numerous issues we face together with private industries to increase women's participation in society as soon as possible.

“Namibia supports the participation of women in peacekeeping and peacebuilding operations around the world. In this context, we call for the full implementation of the UN Security Council Resolution 1325 on Women, Peace and Security.”

“Presently, Namibia has deployed one of the largest female police contingents to the African Union/United Nations Hybrid Operation in Darfur.”
