Sixth Committee: Legal

The Sixth Committee is the primary forum for the consideration of legal questions in the General Assembly. All of the U.N. Member States are entitled to representation on the Sixth Committee as one of the main committees of the General Assembly.

Fifth Committee: Administrative and Budgetary

The Fifth Committee is the Committee of the General Assembly with responsibilities for administration and budgetary matters. Based on the reports of the Fifth Committee, the General Assembly considers and approves the budget of the Organization in accordance with Chapter IV, Article 17 of the Charter of the United Nations. 

Fourth Committee: Special Political and Decolonization

The Office of the Special Representative of the Secretary-General on Sexual Violence in Conflict (SRSG-SVC) serves as the United Nations’ spokesperson and political advocate on conflict-related sexual violence, and is the chair of the network UN Action against Sexual Violence in Conflict.

UN Action UN Action Against Sexual Violence in Conflict

UN Action is an internal body within the UN system that unites the work of 13 UN entities with the goal of ending sexual violence in conflict. UN Action is a part of the UN's implementation on several resolutions that followed SCR 1325(2000), mainly 1820(2008) and 1880(2009) who are linking conflict-related sexual violence with the maintenance of international peace and security.

IANWGE Inter-Agency Network on Women and Gender Equality

The Inter-Agency Network on Women and Gender Equality (IANWGE) is a network of United Nations entities, specialized agencies, funds and programmes. IANWGE works to ensure coordination and cooperation on the promotion of gender equality throughout the United Nations system. IANWGE was established in 2001, but UN interagency work on gender equality has existed in different shapes since 1975.
