PeaceWomen/WILPF is pleased to announce that we have started a UNSCR 1325 National Action Plan (NAP) Initiative. This initiative will join PeaceWomen's website as another tool for information sharing, awareness raising, and advocacy.

Commission on the Status of Women

The next UN Commission on the Status of Women (CSW 56) will take place from 27 February to 9 March 2012 on Priority theme: “The empowerment of rural women and their role in poverty and hunger eradication, development and current challenges”.

Resolution Watch Update

In November 2011, three resolutions were passed: Resolution 2019 on Bosnia and Herzegovina, Resolution 2020 on Somalia, and Resolution 2021 on the DRC. Only one of these resolutions contained relevant Peace, Women, and Security (WPS) references.

DRC Elections

The historic presidential and legislative elections in the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) are scheduled for November 28, 2011. WILPF section in DRC, lead by Annie Matundu Mbambi, has worked for several months demanding the equal participation of women in all aspects of the election cycle and the assurance for peaceful, fair, and democratic elections.
