The NGO Working Group on Peace, co-chaired by Women's International League for Peace and Freedom and Femmes Africa Solidarité), and the Geneva Centre for Security Policy Security Policy, are organising an event to mark the 10th anniversary of UN Security Council Resolution 1325 in Switzerland.

In 2010, the international community celebrates the tenth anniversary of UN Security Council Resolution 1325 on women, peace and security. The resolution acknowledged, for the first time, the importance of a gender dimension in the areas of peace building, peace keeping and conflict prevention.

In 2010, ten years have gone by since the adoption of the United Nations Security Council Resolution 1325 on Women, Peace and Security.

Ambassador Anwarul K. Chowdhury, Former Under-Secretary-General and High Representative of the UN, presented a keynote address on the genesis of the UN Security Council Resolution1325 and a global perspective on its implementation at the this meeting in Washington DC organized at the United States Institute of Peace along with three other organizations.

The purpose of the course is to give added knowledge about and preparation for applying UNSC resolution 1325 for you who in your work deal with gender and conflict. In addition to putting the resolution into its legal and historical framework the course will offer tools to manage the challenges you are faced with in the field when working with gender issues.
