Oxfam's Shooting Poverty Premiere

Oxfam's award-winning filmmakers from their "Shooting Poverty" project will be in NYC for one week to screen their films and speak about how the international arms trade affects people living in poverty. These 3 films are each 15 minutes long, and they address 3 stories of how the arms trade has affected people in 3 different countries, including Burundi, India and Brazil.


COURSES: Gender and Peace Building

The Institute for Peace Studies is organizing its forth cycle of academic courses. This year's courses will cover 6 topics: Conflict Resolution, Mediation & Negotiation, Culture of Peace, Gender and Peace Building, Conflict Transformation and Research Method in Peace Studies. The lecturers are renowned university professors from Egypt and abroad.


EVENT: Holmstedt to Speak on Women in Combat Friday Night

Kirsten Holmstedt, acclaimed author of two non-fiction books on women in combat and the challenges they face after returning home, will speak at William & Mary's Ewell Recital Hall on Friday, Oct.1, at 7 p.m.

The event is free and open to the public.
