Women and War - The Washington, D.C. Celebration of the Tenth Anniversary of UNSCR 1325

In October 2000, the United Nations Security Council passed landmark Resolution 1325 on women, peace, and security, which linked women's experiences of conflict to the international peace and security agenda, acknowledging their peacemaking roles as well as the disproportionate impact of violent conflict on women. Ten years later the U.S. Institute of Peace will co-host a three-day conference celebrating the landmark resolution.

Women, Peace and Security - the Afghan View

The conference will focus on the issue of women, peace and security from the perspective of Afghanistan, including the cooperation between civil and military actors.

Launch of African Women's Decade

The African Women's Decade will be launched on 15 October 2010, at the Kenyatta Conference Center in Nairobi Kenya. The occasion is highly significant on the African Union calendar for 2010 as it was the AU Heads of State and Government who declared 2010-2020 as the African Women's Decade at their February 2009 Session in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia.
