From October 2012 through March 2013, the Post-2015 Governance consultation provided a platform to discuss governance and accountability bottlenecks in the context of the MDGs.
This side event will look at the key priorities for SDG's regarding gender equality and women's rights including SRHR, conflict and violence and the intersection of systemic issues that create pervasive gender inequalities, particularly in the informal work economy and the unpaid care economy.
One of the four main pillars of UN Security Council Resolution 1325 calls for increased participation of women at all levels of decision-making. The crucial role of women as peace makers and mediators has been acknowledged on numerous occasions - nevertheless, they remain underrepresented, are missing at negotiating tables, continue to be excluded from peace making processes and their interests are often neglected in peace agreements.
