This 1-day workshop on Women, Peace and Security National Action Plans: Challenges and Opportunities for Canadian Civil Society will take place at Carleton University in Ottawa on May 2nd. It will bring together Canadian activists, NGOs and researchers to explore the possibilities and challenges presented by Canada's NAP on women, peace and security.

A High-Level Stocktaking Event on the Post-2015 development agenda will be convened by President of the General Assembly John Ash from 11-12 September 2014.

On April 24, the Center on Gender, Security and Human Rights presented their final lecture of the year at University of Massachusetts Boston's Campus Center.

Sam Cook, a lawyer and women's right activist, delivered her lecture on “Women, Peace and Security” with a concentration on "Policy's Skewed Focus on Sexual Violence: The Failure of a “Successful” Feminist Intervention?"

"Strengthening Policy and Practice: Meeting the Challenges of Working in Complex Environments" is designed to draw on the experience and practice of participants, working in development, humanitarian aid or peacebuilding to influence internal policies and programmatic approaches.

Three short films about women in Mine Action will be screened.

The evening focuses on how mine action empowers women from films, photos, music and will include a Statement by the UN Secretary-General. This reception concludes the week of activities in New York aimed at keeping the focus on making the world free of the threat of landmines and explosive remnants of war.
