Effective Implementation of SCR 1325: Gender Equality in Peace and Security

UN Security Council Resolution 1325 on Women, Peace and Security (UNSCR 1325) recognizes that international peace and security is intrinsically linked to equality between men and women, and it also champions women's inclusion in all aspects of international security decision-making.

Accountability: an Essential Element of the WPS Agenda

In this lecture, Navi Pillay, High Commissioner for Human Rights, will highlight the importance of accountability for an effective implementation of the women, peace and security agenda and will outline challenges and promising practices concerning the integration of a gender perspective in criminal prosecution, reparations, truth and reconciliation commissions and institutional reforms.
