In conjunction with its annual members' meeting, the Gender-based Violence Area of Responsibility (GBV AoR) cordially invites you to a discussion of GBV issues in current crises. The GBV AoR is the global-level forum for coordinating prevention and response to GBV in humanitarian settings, co-led by UNFPA and UNICEF.

In London, from June 10-13th, Foreign Secretary William Hague and Angelina Jolie, Special Envoy for the UN High Commissioner for Refugees, will co-chair the largest global meeting on the issue of sexual violence in conflict ever convened. During this event there will be meetings between governments, legal, military and judicial practitioners, representatives from multilateral organizations, NGOs and civil society.

The Permanent Mission of the Republic of Kenya to the United Nations in collaboration with The Women's Environment & Development Organization (WEDO), the Green Belt Movement International (GBMI), the International Council of Women (ICW) and the United Nations Forum on Forests (UNFF) are having a celebration in honour of Nobel Laureate Prof. Wangari Maathai.

This Series of regular Webinars is hosted by our WILPF Academic Network and will be featuring every two months in the lead-up to April 2015.

These Webinars are open for everybody, no prior knowledge or experience necessary! They feature any issue concerning peace and security from a gender perspective, including disarmament, human rights and the women, peace and security agenda.

From the 6-9 June 2014, an international peace event will take place in Sarajevo, #Bosnia. This event takes place in the year of the 100th anniversary of the First World War and subsequently the theme is “Prevent and Abolish War for a Culture of Peace”.

This side event creates a forum for Member State, UN and civil society stakeholders to focus on the prevention and participation pillars of the Women, Peace and Security agenda and on women's rights, voices and experiences in the Ukraine. The current military tensions have put women's rights and participation increasingly at risk.

Seeds of Hope, an award-winning film by Fiona Lloyd-Davies, will be screened at the Mayfair Theatre in Ottawa on May 28, 2014, at 7pm.
